  70 years of captivity?.

  i myself have always believed that when archaeology disagreed with the bible the bible must be right.

  that is how i dismissed the idea that jerusalem was destroyed in 586/587 bce.

  I am STILL waiting for him to show that Jerusalem fell 607 years before the common era using ONLY the Bible. Oh, well, I can only hope.

  i wondered if you could answer this question for me?

  you seem to be fine with the fact that they are false prophets, that they have changed the bible and that they have entered into an agreement to "uphold the aims of the un".. what is the deal breaker for you?.

  i suspect that there isn't one, and that is not a reasonable position.. please tell me there is something they could do that would make you question their legitamacy?.

  Ren is right! True religion:

  • Does not start wars.
  • Does not participate in wars.
  • The members don't seek political office.
  • The members love each other.
  • The members take care of the sick and elderly and widows and orphans.
  • Has centuries of solid history.
  • Never changes its teachings.
  • Does not write a Bible to suite their own needs.
  • Has never made a false prophecy.

  i have had loads of discussion on here with so-called trinitarians that constantly refer to john 1:1 as proof of trinity!

  but it only talks about the word (jesus) and the god so what happened to the holy ghost?.

  if you only use proof that jesus is divine in your texts doesn't that make you a binitarian?.

  Thank you Ren for your last post. Trinitarians would have no problem with how you worded the verses. BTS provided direct evidence of the Holy Spirit being the third person. The best you can do for your Jesus=Michael theory is to show that they have both stood up. The problem you are having is that you have no clue what trinitarians actually believe. How much have you studied this issue aside from WT literature? There is a difference between parrotting what the WT told you and actually understanding the issues yourself.

  I am disappointed that you have been unable/unwilling to answer many, many questions that I have asked of you. I really do wish to understand JW's thinking. I am most sincere in this matter. But that has been my experiance with JW's - ask a question that requires understanding on their part and they run for the hills. All they can muster is WT talking points.

  When JW's come to my door, I ask them a question about something that I don't understand and they don't come back. Ever. I don't see them again until I move to a new home. Then I only see them once - even though I BEG them to come back. But, they continue to visit my neighbors.

  i think i've hit on why the wts love to downplay christ's role as mediator.

  it's not just so that they can have their two classes of christians.

  they have to downplay this aspect of christ because it throws up the issue of his divinity.. who is christ mediating for?.

  If the WTS really believes the end is due any moment:

  • Do they have a written plan for the day after?
  • Are they instructing the faithful to stockpile supplies?
  • Are they preparing the faithful on how to deal with the chaos?
  • Are they doing any thing at all that shows they are preparing for the Day of the Lord?

  personally i hate bible ping-pong.

  i don't think it ever gets anywhere, i don't think it solves anything and i don't think the participants ever make any head room.

  however i will say in this case, i have been proven wrong.

  Ren my dear, can you explain the difference between a triad and a trinity? It seems dishonest of you to draw a false correlation between the two. Frankly, the teachings of the WTS society are much more in line with Greco-Roman paganism, one mighty God and many lessor gods, than does the idea of the trinity. Why does the WTS promote a polytheistic paganism?

  What are your sources for your claims about Ceasar - I mean original, contemporary sources.

  BTW, the Hebrew mss you refer to are known, without question, to have been the work of a 14th Jewish fellow with an axe to grind.

  Ren my dear, are you saying that anyplace it says in the Bible that someone is arising/standing up, that it must be Jesus? What about when Jesus told the paralyzed man to " Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. " (Mark 2:11)? How can the paralyzed man be Jesus if Jesus was talking to him? What was the paralyzed man to arise to the rulership of?

  Nehimiah 9:5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said , Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever:

  In verse one, we find they are talking to the congragation of Israel. Is the whole poplutation of Israel taking up rulership? Are they all the Son of God? If you check a concordance, you will see a lot of people arising and standing, are they all the Son of God?

  Both of your verses show them leading an army. One does not need to be a king or the King to do so. Can you show me where only the Son of God can lead an army? Otherwise, there is no connection between the two verses.

  Please show me where it plainly says that Michael is Jesus. You have shown a lot of similarities between the two, but that does not make them the same person any more than showing similariteis between Satan and Jesus makes them the same person.

  I heard it said once of a preacher that he preached with the voice of God. Does that mean that the preacher was God? Or that the speaker thought the preacher was God?

  If Jesus, assumes the name Michael upon the Ascention, why does the Bible refer to Him as "Jesus" from Acts to Revelations? We shouldn't see the name Jesus outside of the gospels.
